The PC processor market has continued to stabilize over the past several years. Largely PC products are built from two unique brands and a handfull of CPUs. For this reason interested parties can reason out the relative performance of contemporary PC systems in a relatively straight forward manner. There are also a variety of resources available to help enthusiasts dive deep into custom PC setups.

When we look into the embedded, IoT, and mobile space however, there seems to be a never ending stream of new companies, devices, and capabilities for developers to question. I am interested in producing a system of high quality metrics to rate how new combinations of software and hardware will perform. I want to repurpose a tried and true formula: tour the product, demonstrate its quirks and features then score it appropriately. An added goal is to work in multiple languages. My recent work with the university has culminated in the creation of the tool PortAuthority, to expand software profiling techniques and assist new software ports.
