Welcome to CS7300 Course Site. I look forward to meeting everyone and please come prepared with an elevator speech of yourself for the first class (on August 21). We will be meeting at Comal 212 for the first few weeks.

We will finish off the overview of PhD program and start on doctoral research, CS research processes, advisor management, time management and research ethics this coming week. Please note that we will meet in Comal Rm 116 for this coming Friday. Please remember to start creating your Degree Plan based on the information I shared last week regarding the program. You can find an exmaple degree plan of a student entering with a master degree in Canvas under Module. You also should think about your personal webpage. You can host your pages under your unix's account in your public_html directory. I need an url that looks something like: https://userweb.cs.txstate.edu/~your netid. On the schedule page, under useful links, there is a template website that you can use. The personal website page site is something can I do encourage you to use AI to generate it if you prefer.. |

We will finish off CS Research Processes and ethnics and discuss time and advisor management which are both crtical to the success of your PhD journey. Please read the article on On Being a Scientist if you have time. Come to class with some known cases of unethnical conducts taht you are aware of. Please complete your PhD Journey webpage ASAP and move on to the degree plan HW. Be ready to share your degree plan in class if called upon. We will meet in Comal Rm 212 this Friday. |

The following faculty will be presenting their research. As indicated in the schedule, you need to take note and reflect on each presentation in terms of what is the most significance research problem being addressed, why it is a good research question and how the result is being validated. Please download the file form.pdf under modules (faculty presentation videos..) in Canvas for that purpose.
